Smithsonian in a day
Seven interns, 17 museums, one day. The Scripps Howard Foundation Wire interns will embark on a one-day tourism spree comprising brief stops at the 17 Smithsonian museums in Washington and Northern Virginia. At each location, the interns will find an item of interest that is a must-see at the museum and will document the trip along the way.
Series explores state universities
Enrollment is up at the biggest state universities, even as state aid is down, more students qualify for need-based scholarships and endowments struggle to recover from the recession. I worked with six undergrad interns to collect data from 50 flagship universities and designed graphics to accompany their stories.
The president was here
The president of the United States spends a lot of time in Washington, and it's not all in the Oval Office and House Chamber. The city is loaded with historical sites with a presidential background.
Horse Show
It took 125 workers - managers, farriers, horse truck drivers and others - to put on the Washington International Horse Show last week, where 400 riders competed for $400,000 in prizes.
Buff Bucket List
The CU Independent's 2010 print edition aims to guide students through their upcoming years at the university. As editor-in-chief, I lead the budgeting and editing of this print edition, both in copy and photo. I was also the primary designer for this publication.
Tarpit
This audio slideshow accompanied a story I wrote about the Tar Pit--a section of superfans for the Colorado Mammoth professional lacrosse team--as they prepared for playoffs. I took all of the photos, recorded the audio and edited the project. The story and accompanying multimedia piece were featured on Coloradomammoth.com.
